2022 Master Plan Reexamination Report
New Jersey’s Municipal Land Use Law (N.J.S.A. 40:55D-1 et seq.) requires that each municipality undertake a reexamination of its master plan at least once every ten years. The Borough of Middlesex adopted its last master plan in April 2000 and subsequently reexamined it in June 2012. The current report, which shall hereinafter be referred to as the 2022 Master Plan Reexamination Report, is the second reexamination of the master plan.

Effective January 7, 2020, the Middlesex Zoning Board of Adjustment and Planning Board merged into a new Joint Land Use Board.
The Joint Land Use Board consists of volunteer residents appointed by the Mayor who are responsible for preparing the Borough Master Plan in compliance with provisions of the New Jersey Municipal Land Use Law (MLUL) and who are responsible for reviewing zoning ordinances referred to them by the Mayor & Council. This Board also reviews applications that propose to utilize property in a manner not consistent with municipal zoning laws, applications for variances for structures, hears appeals of the Zoning Officer's determinations, and interprets the Zoning Code and Map.

2016-2019 ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
Prior to 2020, the Zoning Board reviewed applications that proposed to utilize property in a manner not consistent with municipal zoning laws.

2016-2019 PLANNING BOARD
