The Port Reading Secondary South Main Street Grade Crossing Elimination Project is in the Borough of Bound Brook, Somerset County, NJ. The North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) in partnership with Somerset County Department of Public Works/Planning Division is conducting a study to investigate options to eliminate the at-grade crossing on South Main Street in the Borough of Bound Brook, while maintaining freight rail access to existing and future customers along the Port Reading Secondary Line. The intent of the study is to alleviate traffic congestion that occurs during gate closures in Downtown Bound Brook as well as South Bound Brook and Middlesex Borough.
