As we ring in the New Year, let us reflect on year 2020 as the most extraordinary and unusual time of our lives. It is interesting to note all the events, the daily reminders of health guidance, the grim statistics, cancellations of many activities and gatherings are reformatting every one of our daily habits, schedules and routines. All these significant modifications of our very livelihood have yielded to the new rigors of education, working and worshiping. As creatures of habit, these new expectations have indeed become the new "normal" for each and everyone of us. No one is excluded from the impact of the virus, with job loss, revenue loss for our municipalities, virtual learning issues, coupled with our national political turmoil have all weighed heavily on our very psyche.

The New Year promises to be inspiring, motivating, exciting and nothing short of amazing in every sense of the word. What this past year has rendered should give us pause as we look forward to the gifts and blessings that we have been yearning for in 2021.

Tiptoeing through the attics of our unheralded mistakes and failures and now challenging them with renewed vigor and resolve is the perfect time for a fresh start. Our very presence should be a beacon of a positive lifestyle filled with wonderful goals, laughter, new opportunities of health and prosperity. Let's recognize the laudable successes of the past while embracing the compassion, the fulfillment of our dreams and expectations, and wonderful memories we have yet to make.

May you all have a peaceful, healthy and joyous year.

Happy New Year
Mayor John L. Madden
