The Recreational Gateway to Health & Relaxation

After all the Covid life-altering lockdown, remote learning, social distancing, masking up precautions (yes and all the snow), we have a wonderful jewel right here in town to usher in the inviting spring and summer seasons. Residents may not realize that we have our own “country club”, the Middlesex Community Pool.

For over 50 years, community pool members have been treated to luxurious aquatic recreation coupled with community member events. Our community pool opened up last summer with no incident from the pandemic. Many other pools did not open at all during that period.

Three pools

There are three pools, one available for early morning lap swimming (6-9am), the newest pool, the lap pool is 25 yards long with 6 lanes. The main pool is a 50-meter Olympic size pool with a diving board and water slide.

Also, there is a kids wading pool. Depth of the pool goes from zero entry to 2.5 feet. Its water features include ground sprays, fish dump buckets, and an interactive on/off waterfall and a fun kids sized “frog” sliding board.

A fully stocked snack bar is available for food and refreshments or bring your own. In addition, you can have food delivered from your favorite restaurant.

Celebrations such as birthday parties or other special occasions are hosted here. Swim lessons are offered for a nominal fee for adults and children.

The Middlesex Water Wrats Swim team is for children between ages 5-18. Synchronized Swim Team (The Aqualytes) is a recreational team inclusive of all genders 5-17 with basic to advanced swim skills. Synchronized swimming combines elements of dance, swimming, and gymnastics.

Aqua Zumba – the certified Zumba instructor will splash your way in shape with fun low impact aquatic exercise. This is a great invigorating workout with cardio conditioning and body toning.

Registration for Middlesex residents starts on March 1, 2021. Registration for non-residents starts on May 1, 2021. Membership applications are now on-line. Please visit the Pool page here for registration and additional “pool related” information.

Summer is just around the corner

Pool season kicks off Memorial Day weekend including Monday May 29th – 31st. The pool is open weekends only starting Memorial Day weekend. Thereafter, they are open 7 days a week starting June 19th through Labor Day weekend including Monday. Hours of operation: 12 noon to 8:00pm.

Hopefully since the pandemic is winding down (soon to be at herd immunity) people are nervous about going away on vacation, make this your new “staycation” destination. Please check it out and register soon. We can all treat ourselves to a well deserved “Gateway get-a-way”.

Please be safe. Thank You.
Mayor John L. Madden
